Posted October 2, 2013

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. jdouglas- thanks! And I've actually never had gnocchi... I know!! I'll give that a try- sounds delicious!

RFB, so glad your chicken broth was good :) While I do use frozen veg, I'm not really a fan of frozen meals, but Beef Stew Bourguignon really does sound pretty good. I think it's the bourguignon part that I like. Have you ever had beef stew over gnocchi? Heaven on a plate!

jdouglas- Me too!! In a perfect world I'd love to cook recipes like hers every day... but in the real world, man, it was nice to not have a pile of dishes tonight. And it was FANTASTIC!!! I even took a photo and posted it to her FB page lol! And awesome on the chicken broth. Mine came out really great over the weekend, and I used all your tips... thank you! :-)

RFB, I love Ina and her style of cooking. It's simple, classic, and really lets the ingredients shine. I stole my chicken broth recipe from her.

Struggling to come up with dinner again. Last night was no garlic pre- new dentist, so we ended up having grilled cheese sandwiches with some bread I unearthed from the freezer. Tonight, my mouth is a little tender, so pasta is very tempting, although I did promise DW sausage and peppers, NY style. We'll see.

I've had my eye on the new Barefoot Contessa Saute Dinners, but couldn't bring myself to pay full price. Found the Beef Stew Bourguignon on sale at HT and had a $1 coupon. Looking forward to trying it tonight... she is my foodie hero, and fingers crossed that it's better than the other freezer section blah that's out there :-)

Tonight we are having salmon that I got on markdown at Kroger last night. I am cooking it using a new recipe that includes dijon mustard and lime juice. We'll have brown rice on the side from SD at HT and frozen veggies from the same sale.
