FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities in Cumberland County have intensified their search for two men believed to be responsible for three crimes over the weekend in which women reported being robbed and either sexually assaulted or raped.

"We have about seven detectives who are working on our particular cases 24 hours," Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, said Monday.

Fayetteville police started investigating Friday evening after a woman reported being kidnapped at gunpoint near dusk in the Eutaw Village Shopping Center parking lot off Bragg Boulevard.

Authorities said the men then took her to a rural part of Cumberland County, where she was raped, robbed and left in the area. She was able to walk to a business along the Eastern Boulevard corridor and call 911.

Two other women reported similar crimes, but in those cases, Cumberland County sheriff's investigators said, they willingly left with the men.

One was picked up Sunday near the intersection of Murchison Road and Pamelee Drive, and the second case occurred Sunday in an area near Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

"She was befriended by these two men, and they offered to drive her to a specific location," Tanna said. "She also did not make it to that location and was taken to a rural area where she was sexually assaulted and left."

According to composite sketches released to the media, police believe the men to be between the ages of 22 and 26. One is 6 feet tall and weighs about 180 pounds while the other is between 5 feet 7 inches tall and 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 300 pounds.

The men are possibly driving a silver Nissan Altima and are considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-366-5853, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483- 8477.
