ZEBULON, N.C. — A fire erupted at a mobile home in Johnston County early Thursday, less than a day after a man who lives there was arrested, fire officials said.

No one was home when the fire broke out at 14496 N.C. Highway 39, near Zebulon, around 1 a.m., Corinth Holders Fire Chief Larry Woodard said. Crews from three fire departments brought the fire under control in about a half hour.

Investigators haven't determined the cause of the fire, but it appears to be suspicious, the fire chief said.

Woodard said the man who lives at the home was arrested on outstanding warrants Wednesday, and he was at the hospital when the fire started.
