'Simpsons' star to narrate Raleigh version of 'Peter and the Wolf(pack)'

Harry Shearer (of Simpsons fame) will be here in April to narrate as the Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra performs.

The Raleigh Civic Symphony Association has long been an affordable options for families who want to expose their kids to classical music.

Ticket prices are just $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for kids 12 and under. This April, the group has lined up a really family-friendly schedule with concerts that the entire family will love ... including an appearance from Harry Shearer (of Simpsons fame).

Here's the schedule (with descriptions from the association). Tickets are on sale now! Both take place at the Talley Student Center on the campus of N.C. State in Raleigh.

On April 17, the Raleigh Civic Symphony will present The Great Animal Orchestra, the East Coast premiere for the work. Based on the groundbreaking soundscapes of Dr. Bernie Krause, the music was composed by renowned British composer Richard Blackford and combines recordings of animals in their natural environments with a live symphony orchestra. Using Krause’s vast library of almost 5,000 hours of soundscape recordings, Blackford’s composition is an exciting, thought-provoking and moving look at man, animals, the environment, and the relationship between them all.

On April 24, the Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra will present the beloved favorite, "Peter and the Wolf," with guest narrator Harry Shearer (known for his voice work for 23 characters on The Simpsons, This is Spinal Tap and much more). This version will take a slightly different spin on this classic since, you know, the concert takes place at N.C. State, the home of the Wolf(pack).
