'Prairie Home Companion' coming to DPAC

— The acclaimed public radio variety show "A Prairie Home Companion" will air from the Durham Performing Arts Center in May.

The live show, which airs locally each Saturday at 6 p.m. on WUNC-FM, is hosted by humorist Garrison Keillor and features music, comedy sketches and Keillor's weekly monologue on the happenings in the fictional town of Lake Wobegon, Minn.

The show will air from the DPAC on May 9. Tickets go on sale March 2 and are priced from $25 to $65.

    You could not pay me $65 to hear Garrison Keiler. Makes me mad every time I think my tax dollar goes to support this bitter pill. And why do they call it DPAC? Is it so hard to say Durham Performing Arts Center? DPAC sounds like a new government program.

    I listen to this from time to time on Sat evenings. Keilor is a great story teller. My 14 yr old was with me, even he became interested and listened until the end. I bet this would be a great show.

    Lake wobegon is the best part of that. He can spin a story that keeps you listening. I think that the way he tells it is a big part of it's appeal.
