New SavingStar offer: 20% off bananas

Posted December 30, 2014

The weekly SavingStar.com cash back healthy product discount starting today is 20% off bananas!

The 20% produce offer is valid on purchases of loose, unwrapped produce up to $10 (maximum $2 reward). Offer valid until 1/5/15. This offer is not eligible on produce weighed and tagged using a produce scale prior to checkout.

Head to SavingStar.com to load the offers to your account and then check back every Tuesday for a new healthy offer.  Remember, the discount does not come off at the register. Read the details below about how this cash back program works.

New to SavingStar? Here is how it works:

SavingStar.com is a cash back coupon site. You don't print out a coupon to redeem at the register. You enter your store reward card numbers on theSavingStar.com website, then load digital coupons to your reward cards and buy the participating products at any of the participating stores.

There are 2 types of redemption methods, depending on the store.

1. With CVS, Rite Aid, Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods & Food Lion, the redemption is automatic.  Once you load the cash back offers to your account and buy the products, no additional action is required on your part to get the cash back in to your SavingStar account. The coupon savings are added to your SavingStar account a couple weeks after your purchase. You will get an e-mail from Savingstar when they have added savings to your account.

2. With Kroger, Target, Walmart, Walgreens and Family Dollar, you will need to take an extra step after you buy the offers you have loaded on to your account. After purchase, you need to scan the product barcode and take a photo of the receipt through their app and submit it to get your cash back. Although this is an extra step, it doesn't really take much time at all.

Once you have accrued $5 worth of savings in your SavingStar account, you can cash in the savings. You can choose to receive an Amazon gift card, have the money deposited into your Paypal account or checking account or donate it to a non-profit organization.

My favorite aspect of this site is that you can use a hard copy coupon at the register for a product that also offers a SavingStar e-coupon (at least for now)!  They also have iPhone and Android apps available.

According to their website, new coupons will become available at the first of every month. Savings will usually show up in your account between 2 days and 2 weeks depending on how long it takes the stores to give SavingStar the information. These coupons will not double.

You can sign up for the program and see more information at SavingStar.com.

    Thanks Dr.D !

LOSLTP - No, if you already have a Paypal account, SavingStar's Paypal payout option is actually easier than the Amazon ecard redemption process. When you choose the Paypal option, SavingStar asks for your Paypal account e-mail address, then they'll send the payment directly to your Paypal account. You'll receive a confirmation e-mail from SavingStar after they've sent it, and also a confirmation from Paypal saying they've received it, but you don't need to do anything else to get the money into your Paypal account.

Does the Paypal option work the way Amazon ecard redemption does at Swagbucks ( ie, get email notification, click "get code" , enter password and see ecard code .
I then log in to my amazon and add it to my account ) ??

    THANKS for helping !

Like Dr D, I usually used the Amazon option until it was stopped. They did indicate that more options were coming so I am hoping they add some good gift card options soon.

ClaytonSaver - I preferred the Amazon option, but now that it's no longer available I choose Paypal. I already had a Paypal account and haven't had any problems using it over the years.

claytonsaver - I have used Paypal forever with no issues so that's how I cash out. I try not to connect most places to my checking account.

I have not taken a payout from Saving Star since they removed the Amazon option. Interested to hear what others are using. Not sure if I want to connect to a checking account and do not use PayPal.
