RALEIGH, N.C. — The Washington Post has named two WRAL News reporters on its list of the best state political reporters in the country.

The Fix, the Post's political blog, included Capitol Bureau Chief Laura Leslie and multimedia investigative reporter Mark Binker alongside two other North Carolina journalists, Pat Gannon from The Insider and Gary Robertson from the Associated Press.

"The most under-appreciated reporters in the political world are the scribes covering state and local politics," The Fix's Chris Cillizza wrote. "They rarely get the attention of their colleagues at the national level but are often covering the very politicians and national trends that come to impact the broad political landscape."

Cillizza solicits recommendations from Fix readers on the blog, Twitter and Facebook to build the list and is still accepting suggestions.

It's not the first time Leslie and Binker have earned praise from the Post. In 2014, the paper's GovBeat blog named them, along with WRAL News reporter Cullen Browder, among the best state capitol reporters in America.
