N.C. man dies of heat-related illness at Bonnaroo

— Heat is being blamed for the death of a Wilmington man at the Bonnaroo music festival in Manchester, Tenn.

David Matthew Sloan, 29, died after collapsing at a medical tent Sunday. Officials said his body temperature was 108 degrees.

More details haven't been released.

    mike, the underlying medical issue was probably.................... he was drunk

    I know if I was drinking in 108 degree weather i'd probably be meeting jesus too!

    I wonder if there was an underlying medical issue, im sure there will be an autopsy. very sad.

    I was working in the attic on Sunday (not smart I know), and was laid out the rest of the day with dizziness, nausea and headache. And I drank about 2 gallons of water during this process. Goes to show you how quickly the heat can get to a person.

    Many people don'e realize the damage the sun and heat can do to a human body. We all need to take precautions in this high heat days.

    I know this guy and his family....he was a strong christian and just finishing touring with his Band....he was really into music and not into drugs like DWNTNBOY is saying....he was seen that morning wearing his Camel Back filled with water.....may said the heat was intense......

    I was at Bonnaroo, and I can assure you it was sweltering hot. Very sorry to hear about this.
