Raleigh, N.C. — State leaders want your children to know what to do if a tornado strikes.
At 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, schools and government buildings across North Carolina planned to participate in a tornado drill as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
According to the National Weather Service, 50 tornadoes touched down in North Carolina last year.
WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel writes in his blog about tornado safety, the most likely time for a tornado to hit and technology that tracks the storms.
