RALEIGH, N.C. — The Interstate 40 Fortify rebuild project will again shift traffic patterns around Raleigh overnight Tuesday.

Construction crews will be moving motorists into the three new eastbound inside lanes from south Saunders Street to the Rock Quarry Road exit. The new lanes will be open in time for the Wednesday morning commute.

This latest shift means the only sections of outside lanes remaining open for traffic are on I-40 East from Rock Quarry Road to the end of the project, and in both directions near the Interstate 440 and U.S. Highway 1/U.S. Highway 64 interchange in Cary.

Drivers should follow the 60 mph speed limit for the safety of drivers, passengers and construction crews.
