Posted — UpdatedThose registered were placed in a lottery for the chance to buy. On Friday, Aug. 17, select fans were notified by email. Saturday morning, Ticketmaster sent out text codes to each registered purchaser.
There is a four ticket limit. Ticket prices range from $78 to $188 (excluding tax and service fees). There are also a few $398 premium seats available for purchase.
"Hamilton" plays DPAC Nov. 6 through Dec. 2.
A limited number of tickets will be available for in-person purchase at the DPAC box office, as well, where musical theater fans started to gather at 7 a.m. for a wristband to secure their place in line.
If you missed out on each of those opportunities, "Hamilton" plans a 40-ticket lottery for seats at just $10 apiece before each of the Durham shows.
"Hamilton" tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, an orphan immigrant from the West Indies who became one of America's founding fathers. The show's music is a mix of hip-hop, jazz, R&B and rap and the cast is predominantly African-American and Latino actors.
The book, music and lyrics were written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and based on Ron Chernow's biography, Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
When the play first premiered in 2015, "Hamilton" became a smash sensation, nabbing 11 Tony Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and has sold out theaters all over the country.
