‘Fast track recall’ issued for Target Easter toys

Target is recalling of over half a million Easter toys over concerns that the toys could be ingested and cause intestinal obstructions in children.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Wednesday issued a “fast track recall” for water-absorbing Easter and dinosaur toys that were sold for about $1 between February and March.

According to the recall summary, if the toy is ingested it could expand inside a child’s stomach and cause intestinal obstructions that could lead to discomfort, dehydration and vomiting. The obstruction could be life threatening and surgery would be required to move the toy from the child’s body, the recall summary said.

Medical professionals and parents are warned that, if ingested, the toys may not appear on an X-ray, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The recall includes Hatch and Grow Easter Eggs and Easter Grow toys with model number 234-25-1200 and Hatch Your Own Din toys with model number 234-09-0016.

No incidents involving the toys have been reported, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Anybody who has the toys can call Target at 800-440-0680 or visit Target.com for a refund.
