Raleigh inmate dies in apparent suicide
An inmate at the North Carolina Correctional Institute for Women died Sunday morning in an apparent suicide.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — An inmate at the North Carolina Correctional Institute for Women died Sunday morning in an apparent suicide.
Officials found 52-year-old Lori Pote ill in her bed around 2:30 a.m. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was declared dead.
Pote had been in prison since April 2015 and was serving 24 years for multiple accounts of embezzlement that dated back to 2007. Pote had been arrested for stealing more than $700,000 from Carolina Kids Pediatrics in Raleigh, where she worked as office manager.
The State Capitol Police Department is investigating Pote's death.
