I'm meteorologist K Campbell. In the wr a severe weather center, high temperatures reach the mid 80 s above normal temperatures to kick off the month of May normal high 77. The good news about May is that we gain about 45 minutes of daylight. The sun sets about eight o'clock at the beginning of the month. But by the end of May, the sunset is almost eight 30 PM. So if you like the sun, that's good news for you. Here's the two big weather stories that we are tracking this week. One is the heat. It's going to be even hotter Thursday and Friday highs are in the upper eighties to near 90. The other big story that we're tracking is your weekend. There will be the potential for some scattered showers and storms, all eyes on weekend rain chances so much on this weekend. We've got the Coleman race for the cure, the Ham and Yam festival, graduations, weddings, all kinds of things. So the good news I have for you is that we have lowered weekend rain chances. Here's the thing though, the chance is not zero. We still expect there to be some scattered thunderstorms, Saturday and Sunday. It's about a 40% chance that you'd see them Saturday. But the trend that we've noticed today, the heavier rain stays to our west. So we saw a few storms earlier in the day. Those have cleared were likely to be dry. Thursday. Thanks to high pressure Friday. Pretty dry as well. There is a 20% chance for rain Friday night, but let's focus in on Saturday. This is the European model here and early in the day, the bulk of the rain is to our west. That could be good news for Ken. Notice the yellows, the darker shades of green, those stay closer to the mountains. We have the light green here. So I think there would be less coverage, less activity here locally with the access of higher storm chances, the better forcing to our west and perhaps a greater coverage as we head into Saturday evening and night. The other big story is that the humidity is going to be returning. We are likely to see dew points climb back in the mid sixties as we get into the early part of next week. And that means it's going to be feeling a lot more like summer outside next week. We're forecasting 90 next Wednesday. All forecast data we've looked at today has shown highs in the nineties by the middle of next week. We do average two days in the nineties during the month of May though a couple of hot days coming our way. At least it's not too humid just yet on Thursday and Friday over the weekend highs in the low to mid eighties and as we get into next week, some isolated storm chances will stick around.
